ZHL Group completed the gut renovation and modernization of the NYPD Police Academy Auditorium, transforming the outdated facility into a state-of-the-art training and performance space. The project required exceptional coordination, technical precision, and expertise in acoustics, lighting control, and audience comfort.

Scope of Work
The scope included comprehensive upgrades to the building’s mechanical, electrical, and architectural systems:
- New HVAC ductwork and linear diffusers for improved air quality and temperature regulation.
- Installation of a modern fire sprinkler system for enhanced life safety and code compliance.
- Lighting upgrades, including linear wall lighting, aisle marker lights, and a custom backlit NYPD wall logo.
- Integrated audio/visual system with lighting control interface and high-definition projector.
- New seating with USB charging ports and fold-away hidden tables, designed for flexibility and comfort.
- Refined finishes, such as terrazzo floor tile and acoustical wall panels, enhancing both aesthetics and sound quality.
- ADA accessibility improvements, including a wheelchair lift and hearing loop system.
